Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization), visitors could enjoy the music and traditions that always accompany the event.
Craftsmanship, dance, and gastronomy are also included. It takes its name from the first truly Cuban cocktail, created by the “mambises” (guerrillas who fought Spanish colonization) during the wars of independence to overcome food shortages and bad weather.
The Excelencias Awards will be given to outstanding figures in the arts and society in Trinidad, Cuba, and other regions of the world, and as a new feature, the Mi Canto a la Canchanchara (My Song to Canchanchara) contest will be held.
The Festival is organized by Cuba’s state-owned record company EGREM, the Cuban Tourism Ministry (MINTUR), the Office of the Conservator of Trinidad, and the Valle de los Ingenios (Valley of the Sugar Mills), in collaboration with the authorities of Villa, musician Jose Lopez Santander, the leading artist of the event, and the Palmares Extrahotel Company SA in Trinidad.
