November witnesses low crime rate in El Salvador

San Salvador, Dec 1 (Prensa Latina) The recently ended month of November came to a close in El Salvador boasting 26 days free of gang-related murders, the National Civil Police (PNC) informed on Sunday.

Authorities expect the murder rate to go as low as two per 100,000 inhabitants, something foreseeable when 250 days without murders have already passed in 2024, by virtue of the Territorial Control Plan (PCT) and the application of the exceptional regime still in force.

November was established as the second most successful month in terms of security, closely following October’s results, when the country reached 27 days without a death due to crimes by street gangs, or “maras.”

Since President Nayib Bukele took office in 2019, the country has accumulated 768 days with zero murders, 655 of which were achieved under the exceptional regime.
