Cuba expresses solidarity with Syria due to terrorist attacks

Havana, Dec 1 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Sunday expressed Cuba's solidarity with and support for the people and government of Syria due to recent attacks by terrorist groups in the city of Aleppo.

On his X profile, the head of Cuban diplomacy demanded respect for Syria’s sovereignty, stability and territorial integrity.

The hostilities against the Syrian people, perpetrated by terrorists led by Hayat Tharir al-Sham, have caused considerable damage to the civilian population and have worsened the humanitarian situation in Aleppo, Syria’s second largest city.

According to press reports quoting the Syrian Ministry of Defense, extremists from the “Junta for the Liberation of the Levant,” formerly called Al-Nousra Front, are supported in their attacks by numerous foreign fighters.

The radical groups seized the northern Syrian region on Friday, while the Syrian Army retreated to Aleppo’s International Airport and the Nairab air base to launch a counterattack along with large convoys of reinforcements that arrived in the area.

The General Command of the Army and the Armed Forces informed on Sunday that military units established a defense line along some 150 kilometers in the north of Hama province, where they expelled the terrorists from the towns of Mardes and Qalet Al-Madiq.

Syrian television confirmed the annihilation of some 1,000 terrorists in the last three days of fighting with the army in Aleppo and Idlib.

In a separate statement, the Syrian Army’s Political Directorate warned that terrorist groups continue to spread fake news on all their platforms, in the context of a coordinated media war to influence the morale of the people and the army.
