The Venezuelan vice president of Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, said that this group of young people are part of the National Scientific Seedbed Program, promoted by the government of Nicolás Maduro.
He pointed out that the so-called Robotic Dreamer team presented an innovative proposal at the event that surprised the judges, who “rated it as one of the best in the competition.”
The Bolivarian Republic attended this World Olympiad with 47 children and young people from the National Scientific Seedbed Program and participated in the categories of Robotic Missions: Elementary senior and junior; Robotic Sports; Future Engineers and Future Innovators: Elementary, junior and senior.
Robotics Dreamers was made up of 16-year-olds Angelina Julieth Ferrer, and Mariana Patricia Sánchez García, in addition to Alfredo Alí, 17.
Behind Venezuela, the Netherlands and Kazakhstan occupied second and third place in this category, respectively.
Jiménez congratulated the “Generation of Genius for this achievement so important for the country” and thanked the head of state for the development of this policy of attention to the children and young people of Venezuela, which “accentuates the development of their innovative and creative capacities”, she said.
In the World Robotics Olympiad Türkiye 2024, 3,500 children and young people participated in 550 teams from more than 90 countries.
The young people’s goal in this new edition was to provide ideas and solutions to the global climate crisis, said the Minister of Science and Technology.
