Jamaica to increase exports to the Caribbean

Kingston, Nov 29 (Prensa Latina) Jamaica is working to promote and increase its exports in the Caribbean region and beyond this geographical area to strengthen its economy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson participated a few hours ago in the 59th Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) in Georgetown, Guyana.

The meeting addressed issues such as the free movement of community citizens, obstacles affecting regional trade in goods and requests for the suspension of the Common External Tariff on specific products.

Topics such as renewable energy and intellectual property were also discussed, the Jamaica Observer said.

The newspaper recalls that in the previous edition held in May 2024, Johnson paid special attention to issues affecting regional trade in sugar and cement, news regarding tariff adjustments on condensed milk, the supply of frozen concentrated orange juice and refined petroleum products, among others.

Several of these issues returned to the agenda again, the Jamaican newspaper said.
