The portal Brasil 247, which quotes the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal, indicates that, even ineligible until 2030 and facing a series of criminal charges, the former president believes in the support of Trump and possible economic sanctions by the Republican against the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, could change the course of his political career.

Bolsonaro told the newspaper that Trump’s election is a “game changer” for right-wing politicians, especially in Latin America, where the left recently won presidential elections in Mexico and Uruguay.

“Trump is back, and it’s a sign that we’ll be back, too,” he said, referring to his chances of returning to power in 2026.

During the interview, the former Army captain revealed that he and his son, federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, are in constant contact with the new US government, since Trump’s victory in the November 5 election.
