In his message, Xi stressed that the two countries have a relationship based on mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation.

The Chinese head of State highlighted that since the 36 years of diplomatic relations, China and Uruguay have practiced mutual respect, equal treatment, and shared benefits, supported each other on key issues, and achieved important results in various areas of cooperation.

The president voiced willingness to consolidate with Orsi the bilateral friendship and strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership for the benefit of their respective nations.

Earlier, the Chinese Foreign Ministry congratulated Orsi and reiterated its willingness to deepen cooperation.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning stressed the importance Beijing attaches to Monevideo’s relations, calling it a significant strategic partner in Latin America.

Mao is also willing to work with the new Uruguayan government to enhance political mutual trust, expand cooperation in several fields, and enhance coordination in international and regional affairs.
