Speaking yesterday with representatives of the population of the Lajas municipality, in the central province of Cienfuegos, the Cuban president affirmed that the election of Republican Donald Trump for the US presidency was a predicted result for which Cuba was prepared.
Díaz-Canel stressed Cuba’s willingness to advance in economic development despite the tightening of the blockade and the hostility of Washington.
“The relationship with the United States government, as you know, is an asymmetric one, because they have imposed a blockade on us for more than 60 years, which was tightened in 2019 and continued with the current administration,” recalled the president.
Díaz-Canel acknowledged that the blockade has implications for the lives of Cubans, with power cuts and, lack of food and medicine. Still, he reaffirmed the conviction that the country will move forward with creative resistance and the talent and heroism of its people.
