The punishments were demanded by the authorities in a hearing that began on Monday and ended on Wednesday in the Criminal Court of the southern department of Vaucluse, with the expectation that the sentences will be known no later than December 20.
Against Dominique Pelicot the Public Prosecutor’s Office demanded the maximum possible sentence for the crime in question, 20 years, after he drugged his wife Gisèle for almost a decade to allow and film others to rape her, a case that scandalizes society.
For his part, one of the accused faces the minimum sentence, four years, and the rest 10 to 18 years in prison.
For Judge Laure Chabaud, the punishment of two decades in prison for Dominique, a 71-year-old man, is both too much and too little, given the seriousness of the repeated crime.
Likewise, the authorities requested 10 years of social-judicial monitoring and an analysis of his situation for Dominique when the time of imprisonment expires.
Among the accusations against the main defendant are his lack of sensitivity, warning that the chemical submission of Gisèle almost led her to a coma.
The woman suffered the abuse between July 2011 and October 2020, a crime that generates reactions of repudiation, fueled by the photos and videos released during the trial.
