The China-Somalia Friendship Scholarship program was presented at an official ceremony at the National University of Mogadishu, attended by the Somali Minister of State for Education and Higher Education, Nura Mustaf Mukhtar, and the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu.
After the representative of the Mogadishu government thanked the Chinese diplomat for the scholarships offered, the Chinese diplomat said that the project will contribute to the development of the Somali education sector, Sonna News Agency reported.
Representatives of the two countries’ governments agreed yesterday in Mogadishu, the capital, to strengthen bilateral judicial cooperation.
The pact was signed by the President of the Supreme Court of this African state, Bashe Yusuf Amed and the Chinese diplomat, Yi.
Somalia, located in East Africa, is considered an impoverished country, in the midst of tribal conflicts and armed attacks, especially in central and southern areas of the country, by the extremist group Al-Shabab, which have caused hundreds of deaths and injuries in several years.
