Italian and Cuban theater artists discuss violence against women (+Photos)

Havana, Nov 26 (Prensa Latina) The 26th Italian Culture Week in Cuba reinforced the importance of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women through the show "Vivir por amor, Morir por amor" (Live for Love, Die for Love), which was presented in this capital.

Opened to the public at the Hubert de Blanck Theater-Hall on Monday evening and directed by Italian director Gianluca Barbadori, the show interweaves the stories of composer Giacomo Puccini’s heroines with some of the female characters of Cuban literature and history.

Barbadori, an Italian teacher, has conducted social theater workshops for 28 years with vulnerable groups and communities worldwide.

Responding to an invitation from the Italian Embassy in Cuba on the 26th Cultural Week, the artist extended his collaboration to the University of the Arts (ISA) and the Cuban company Impulso Teatro.

Barbadori organized the writing of the text “Vivir por amor, Morir por amor” in collaboration with Cuban playwrights Roberto Viñas and Nelson Beaton, simultaneously with the workshop with the actors, the exploration of their experiences, and the images they generated.
