The National Office of Statistics and Information of the Republic of Cuba (ONEI) has just published its most recent data on tourism, amid difficult situations such as the impacts caused by hurricanes and earthquakes, and financial, commercial, and economic pressures in general.
This agency indicates that, preliminarily, so far this year 2024 up to October, the nation received 2,490,770 travelers, representing 96.1 percent compared to the same period in 2023 (an equivalent of 101,256 travelers less). Recently, the Cuban Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García, acknowledged the possibility of not reaching the planned figure of three million foreign visitors this year. Meanwhile, professionals and managers of the sector reinforce their tasks to solve the problems.
ONEI points out that the main outbound markets to Cuba are Canada with 97.1 percent growth compared to 2023, followed by the Cuban Community Abroad (82.2), the Russian Federation (107.0), the United States (90.6), Spain (73.1), and Mexico (103.7), Germany (95.2), France (90.9), Argentina (97.4) and Italy (84.4), among others.
