Colombian and Venezuelan legislators to meet in Bogotá

Bogotá, Nov 26 (Prensa Latina) Legislators from Colombia and Venezuela will meet to review the state of relations between the two nations and assess the possibilities of deepening them.

In the joint session, members of the two delegations will address the progress and challenges of the process of renewing ties initiated by Colombian President Gustavo Petro and his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro. They will also make proposals to revitalize them.

One of the points to be discussed will be the creation of a plan for the development and exchange of both parties on the Colombian-Venezuelan border.; they will also discuss the need to promote a series of actions to link the institutions and the civil population of the two countries.

The Colombian congressmen who convene the joint session are: Senator Gloria Flórez of the Historic Pact and the representative of the Chamber, Alejandro Toro.

Venezuela will be represented by the president of the Venezuela-Colombia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Julio Chávez, and the deputies Juan Alvarado, Vanesa Montero, Carolina García, Asia Villegas, Timoteo Zambrano, Ilenia Medina, Luis Romero and Anyelith Tamayo.

The reestablishment of diplomatic relations between the neighboring countries occurred in August 2022, after six years of isolation and after Gustavo Petro came to power.
