Venezuela rejects renewal of U.S. executive order against Nicaragua

Caracas, Nov 25 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela today expressed its solidarity with the people and government of Nicaragua by rejecting the renewal of what it described as an infamous executive order by the U.S. government, according to a press release.

The Foreign Ministry pointed out that the decision against the sister nation considered the Central American country as ‘an unusual and extraordinary threat to its national security and foreign policy’.

It underlined that the measure thus justifies the illegal coercive measures against the Nicaraguan people.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry described as unacceptable that the power which historically invaded Sandino’s homeland with its troops, sustained the bloody dictatorship of (Anastasio) Somoza and fed the violence of the Contras, ‘pretends to accuse the people and the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of being a threat’.

He affirmed that with this executive order, the United States shows once again its contempt for international law and its unquenchable thirst to destabilize governments that defend their sovereignty and dignity.

Under this pretext, the document denounced, ‘it subjects the Nicaraguan people to criminal measures and covers its imperialist interventionism with impunity’.

The people and government of Venezuela reiterated ‘their unrestricted support and solidarity to comrade president and commander Daniel Ortega and comrade vice-president Rosario Murillo’.

It also added its voice to the world condemnation of this renewed aggression, under the conviction that the people of Carlos Fonseca and Rubén Darío will continue to walk firmly on the path of development and national peace.
