We have perceived day after day the warm embrace and encouragement of Europeans, solidarity organizations, political forces, trade unions and others, he said at the opening of the 19th European Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba.
Gonzalez welcomed the participants to the forum and highlighted the presence of about 300 delegates from 30 countries.
He also acknowledged the reception of the French Communist Party in its headquarters, an emblematic Parisian facility designed by the famous Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.
In his speech, the ICAP president denounced the negative impact Washington’s intensified economic war on Cuba for more than 60 years and the violation it represents of the rights of an entire nation.
Referring to the extraterritorial application of the blockade, he warned that it constitutes a violation of the rights of everyone on the planet, due to the global consequences of the economic war applied to Cuba.
In his words, Gonzalez repudiated the re-inclusion of the island in the unilateral list of countries that Washington considers sponsors of terrorism and the damaging impact of this measure.
We call for the elimination of such an absurd decision, he said.
During the two-day meeting, the Cuban leader stressed the relevance of solidarity with the Caribbean Island in the current context.
