Sun Yeli said that China is ready to be the guest of honor at the next International Tourism Fair of Cuba FITCuba 2025.
He also learned about the particularities of the Cuban presence in this event, while showing interest on some issues related to the Cuban destination and spoke of the excellent relations that unite both countries on different fields.
Cuban sports stars Mijain Lopez, five-time Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, and Javier Sotomayor, multi-time world record holder in high jump, exchanged with visitors at the stand.
Cuba’s First Deputy Minister of Tourism, Jorge Alberto Garcia, leads the island’s delegation that includes representatives of hotel chains and travel agencies.
During the event, Mijain Lopez and Sotomayor will hold a Tourist Promotion Activity for Destination Cuba, in which they will meet with the specialized press, tour operators and businessmen.
The two countries have worked to strengthen cultural, tourist and commercial exchanges, such as the resumption of the direct Beijing-Havana flight or the announcement by Cuba of visa exemption for Chinese tourists.
The CITM is China’s first international tourism showcase with its own brand, as well as the largest professional fair of its kind in Asia.
Since 2001, the event brings together tourism institutions, travel agencies, hotels, airlines, cultural agencies, museums and other enterprises related to Chinese culture and tourism, in addition to participants from more than 100 countries and regions around the world.
With the theme “Nihao! China” (Hello China!), CITM 2024 is being held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center covering an area of 53,000 square meters, with around 2,500 standard stands, organizers said.
Cuban Tourism Advisor for Asia, Elizabeth Vela, previously told Prensa Latina that the objective of the Caribbean participation in this important event is to continue promoting Cuba as a destination, characterized by its safety, natural beauty, culture and diversity.
