Bahamas basketball coach pleased with playing in Cuba

Havana, 23 November (Prensa Latina) The head coach of the Bahamas men's basketball team, John Lucas III, left for the United States today, personally pleased with his visit to Cuba, even if it did not go well from a sporting point of view.

Speaking to Prensa Latina, Lucas III was delighted with the reception he received in Havana, where he made his debut as coach of his country’s national team.

“I’ve enjoyed being in Cuba, everyone is very friendly, the food is wonderful, it’s a beautiful country, it’s been a great experience, I think not just for me but for my whole team,” he said.

His team lost 62-76 to Cuba on Friday night in the second qualifying round for the 2025 Americas Cup basketball tournament.

However, the coach reiterated his trust on his players to secure one of the two tickets for the 2025 Americas Cup.

The Bahamas arrive in the United States this Saturday, where they will play the home team in the final game of this qualifying window next Monday.

After yesterday’s results, West Indies and Puerto Rico lead Group D with two wins and one loss, while Bahamas and Puerto Rico are 1-2.
