No gang-related murders were registered on Thursday, November 21. “We ended Thursday, November 21, with 0 homicides in the country,” the institution said on its official X account.
Although it will not reach the 27 days without fatalities recorded in October, the month of November will apparently rank among the safest in recent times as a result of the effectiveness of the Territorial Control Plan and the exceptional regime.
Meanwhile, the authorities continue their offensive against the groups responsible for the violence and, the day before, the Attorney General’s Office issued 144 arrest warrants against gang members involved in different crimes.
The operation was aimed at capturing members of the Mara Salvatrucha operating in San Miguel, Usulután and La Unión.
The authorities specified that among the accused there are 103 who will be notified in the penitentiary centers where they are already in prison.
During the action, vehicles, cell phones, computers and other objects linked to the different criminal acts were seized.
Although the authorities released close to 10,000 innocent people, the number of alleged gang members in prison is close to 80,000, according to official statistics.
