DPRK accuses US of stirring tensions and warns of nuclear war

Pyongyang, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) The top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong Un, accused the United States of creating such a situation in the Korean Peninsula, that the risks of a nuclear war in the region have never been higher.

As reported today by the state-run KCNA news agency, Kim’s warning came while delivering a speech at the opening of the National Defense Development 2024 exhibition.

Never before have the warring parties on the Korean Peninsula clashed so dangerously and acutely, which could escalate into the most destructive thermonuclear war, the secretary general of the Workers’ Party and chairman of the State Affairs Committee asserted.

Kim recalled that previous talks with Washington (in Singapore and Vietnam in 2018 and on the border with South Korea in 2019, all with then-U.S. President Donald Trump) had only underscored that its aggressive and hostile policy toward the DPRK would never change.

We have already gone as far as we could in negotiations with the U.S., he stressed.

The extreme ambition of the U.S. imperialists and their followers to wipe out our ideology and system and annihilate our people has not changed at all, Kim Jong Un said.
