Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés on Friday demanded an efficient sugar harvest, as well as fulfilling the winter planting of various crops to meet people's demand.

The people of Sancti Spíritus have to exceed all their indicators to compensate for their needs and contribute to the territories in the west that were affected by the hurricanes, he stressed.

These demands by the member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (PCC) respond to the lack of resources due to the United States’ iron and unjust blockade and the blows of nature to the economy.

At a meeting with local authorities, also chaired by Deivy Pérez, PCC member and its first secretary in Sancti Spíritus, and Governor Alexis Lorente, Vadés emphasized the strategy to be implemented by each territory to overcome the current adversities.

During the meeting, Agriculture Delegate Juan José González referred to various tasks in the sector and reported the slaughter this year of 1,125 animals to cover the delivery of various products to the population and to priority centers such as healthcare and education facilities, among others, a figure that must increase during the rest of the year.

He also discussed the projections of the work in the agricultural poles, the peasant sector and the new landholders, as well as the progress of contracts and the cultivated areas.

In this regard, the Cuban vice president stated that with a systematic control, without failing to demand from the harvesters, more contributions can be made and the demands from the highest leadership of the country can be achieved.
