According to a message shared by the Communications Director of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), Yadira Ramírez, with Prensa Latina, both athletes urged participants to visit Cuba’s exhibition area at the CITM, which will take place in Shanghai from November 22 to 24.
In his video message, Sotomayor said, “Hello everyone, from November 22 to 24, the Tourism Fair will be held in Shanghai. I will be with the delegation from the Cuban Ministry of Tourism and we will be waiting for you at Cuba’s stand.”
Meanwhile, the host of the TV sports program Jugada Perfecta, Héctor Villar, asked the five-time Greco-Roman wrestling champion, “Where are we waiting for you, Mija?” and the answer was “In Shanghai. We will be waiting for you gentlemen from November 22 to 24 at the Shanghai Fair. Greetings.”
Regarding the CITM, Cuban Tourism Advisor for Asia Elizabeth Vela told Prensa Latina recently that the objective of Cuba’s participation in this important event is to continue to promote the destination Cuba, characterized by its safety, natural beauty, culture and diversity.
According to Vela, Cuba is ready to receive Chinese tourists and it has taken a series of measures to encourage these visits.
Previously, during the closing session of the 42nd International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2024), held from May 1 to 5, Cuban Minister of Tourism Juan Carlos García noted that the next edition of the event, to take place in Havana, would have China as the guest country of honor.
At that time, García also announced the visa exemption for Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports, as well as the resumption of operations by Air China, which subsequently began on May 17.
In June, García participated in the opening ceremony of the joint venture China Cuba Tourism Development, aimed at promoting tourism and trade between the two countries, and held in the 798 artistic district in Beijing, according to the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
