“In the face of Israel’s intense attacks on Lebanon’s National Day, we reiterate the call to respect its sovereignty and support the right of the Lebanese people to self-determination,” the head of Cuban diplomacy wrote on his X profile.
The Foreign Ministry recently denounced the ongoing air raids perpetrated by Israeli Government’s forces on residential areas in Beirut and Damascus, Syria.
In a statement published on its website, it stressed that these attacks are a flagrant violation of international law, including international humanitarian law.
The Foreign Ministry noted that Israel has the military, logistical and political support of the Government of the United States, which guarantees its impunity and has led to a dangerous escalation that further compromises regional and international stability and security.
At several international forums, Cuba has stated that peace in the Middle East will only be possible through a comprehensive, fair and lasting solution of the conflict, which includes the creation of a sovereign and independent Palestinian State, with the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and the return of refugees.
