This legal initiative, proposed last Tuesday in the legislative chamber by the President of the Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, is a response to the approval by the U.S. House of Representatives of the so-called Bolivar Law, which strengthens the policy of sanctions and unilateral coercive measures against this country.
The proposal arose during the approval of a unanimous agreement in rejection and condemnation of this juridical monstrosity that President Nicolás Maduro labeled the day before as a “garbage law”.
Rodriguez asked to speed up the process so that next Tuesday the Special Law “against the blockade, the defense of our dignity, history, idiosyncrasy and for the bones of the liberators of America” be approved in a peremptory manner in ordinary session.
Among his recommendations, he considered that his proposal should include the perpetual political disqualification of those who have committed brutal acts against the Republic, such as asking for sanctions and those who applauded this U.S. law, in which case the opposition candidate María Corina Machado is included.
He also suggested these criminals and associates be subject to the Law of Extension of Dominion, and that the resources obtained “be destined solely and exclusively to contribute to the national Executive to help in the fight against the blockade and economic laws”.
