We have two months to encourage Biden to keep his promises and reverse the anti-Cuba actions of the (Donald) Trump era,” Chris Bender, president of Building Relations with Cuban Labor (BRWCL), said at a national call through the Zoom platform.
Mark Friedman, a member of the International Association of Machinists Local 1484 and founder of the Hands Off Cuba Committee in Los Angeles, wrote that most US citizens and the rest of the world want to see an end to the appalling treatment of the Cuban people.
“We have just seen the United Nations, once again, vote 187 to two to end the US blockade against Cuba,” he noted.
The unionists urged to sign a letter, addressed to Biden, stating: “As elected officials, trade unions, and members of the movement of solidarity with Cuba, we invite you to join this significant letter calling on President Biden to take immediate actions to remove Cuba from Washington’s SSOT list.”
The letter urges the Democratic leader to reverse the harmful restrictions imposed by the administration of his predecessor, Donald Trump, who will soon take over power.
The message urges Biden to restore diplomatic relations, alleviate the suffering of ordinary Cubans, and foster opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between the United States and Cuba.
