The official delivery was made by Russian Natural Resources and Ecology Minister Alexandr Kozlov during a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Kim Tok-hun after the conclusion of the 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation in Trade, Economy, Science, and Technology.
Russian media reported that the donation consisted of an African lion, two brown bears, two yaks, five white cockatoos, 25 pheasants of different species, and 40 mandarin ducks.
Founded in 1959, the Pyongyang Central Zoo houses more than 5,000 specimens, including 400 donated by heads of State and foreign citizens.
