India and Guyana reach agreements in hydrocarbons and other sectors

New Delhi, Nov 21 (Prensa Latina) – India and Guyana have finalized ten memorandums of understanding in various sectors, including hydrocarbons, agriculture, health, and medical products, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Guyana, which concludes today.

The cooperation in hydrocarbons encompasses the supply of crude oil, collaboration in natural gas, infrastructure development, capacity building, and the exchange of expertise across the entire value chain, according to an official statement released here.

The agricultural sector and related fields agreed to promote joint activities, including scientific materials exchange, information, and personnel.

They also established the possibility of recognizing Indian Pharmacopoeia regulations, sharing data, and supplying medicines to the Public Procurement Agencies of Caribbean Community countries at affordable prices.

Representatives from both countries outlined mechanisms for sharing digital solutions to enhance digital transformation and to apply India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system in Guyana.

Regarding defense, they laid the groundwork for establishing a framework for institutional collaboration to improve research, education, training, and national security.
