Prime Minister Philip Davis emphasized that “the situation in Haiti is deteriorating to the point where we must be worried about what I call mass migration.”

He explained, “We face the choice of dealing with hundreds of people entering the Bahamas by sea or finding ways to stop this migration phenomenon. Currently, the situation is less intense due to our efforts to strengthen border surveillance and our partnerships with Cuba, the United States, and the Turks and Caicos Islands to manage the flow of Haitians.”

Davis warned that if the security situation in Haiti continues to worsen, it would become impossible for the Bahamas to handle millions of people attempting to escape that harsh reality, The Nassau Guardian online newspaper reported.
