According to statements by the advisor to the Pakistani ambassador in Damascus, Omar Khan, the consignment includes 16 tons of medicines, food and health supplies.
He revealed that the aid delivered to Syria so far amounted to about 30 tons, and more batches of assistance will be sent during the next week.
This aid is delivered to the Supreme Committee for Aid in Syria, which distributes it to the needy in coordination with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, the diplomat pointed out.
Earlier, Pakistani Ambassador Shahid Akhtar appreciated the Syrian government’s efforts to receive and help those arriving from Lebanon.
Akhtar added that aid is being collected in his country and this batch is part of 80 tons of medical and food assistance to Syria.
The number of refugees who entered this country after being forced to leave their homes by Israeli aggressions against Lebanon has reached 540,000, according to recent data announced by the Department of Emigration and Passport.
