According to the film event’s director, Tania Delgado, the screening is scheduled for December 6, at Yara Theater, in downtown Havana.
Before its premiere on Netflix, and by virtue of recent agreements with the company, the first two episodes of the long-awaited series will be screened at the Havana festival.
This adaptation of García Márquez’s masterpiece is considered an unprecedented production in Latin America, due to its scale and ambition.
The series – directed by Alex García-López and Laura Mora – was filmed in various departments of Colombia and captures the essence and universe of Macondo. The International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, scheduled for December 5-15, boast a large following among Cuban film buffs and foreign visitors, Delgado acknowledged.
She went on to say that the organizers of the 45th edition received a total 2,017 works of different format, of which they selected 256 from 45 countries, 21 of them in Latin American.
The Argentine film “Los domingos mueren más personas” will open the festival on December 5, at the Charles Chaplin Cinema.
According to the organizers, there are 110 titles in competition, 29 unpublished scripts and 30 posters.
