At about 13:30 local time on Wednesday, the Israeli enemy carried out an air assault from the area of Al-Tanef, occupied by US forces in eastern Syria, the Defense Ministry announced in a statement.
It added that the shelling also caused extensive material damage to the buildings targeted and its surroundings. Palmyra, declared a Unesco world heritage site in 1980, was twice occupied by Daesh terrorists, and then liberated by the Syrian army with the support of Russian forces in 2016.
Tel Aviv stepped up its military actions against targets in Syria, adding up to more than 130 attacks in almost a year that caused at least 120 deaths and major material damage.
The most recent attack was last Thursday on the capital residential district of Mezzeh and the suburb of Qudseya near Damascus, killing 19 people and injuring 16 others, mostly women and children.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday 13 of this month, the Israeli army destroyed three bridges and several roads in the Syrian town of Qusair, bordering Lebanon.
The Syrian Government has repeatedly called for joint efforts to stop the war crimes and genocide committed by Israel against the states and peoples of the region.
