Despite the heavy shootout, the criminals led by Vitelhomme Inocent could not manage to take over the premises, as the police resistance thwarted their attempts.

Gangs have remained very active since the beginning of the week. The digital newspaper Haiti Libre recalled that a group of criminals vandalized the Office of Citizen Protection in the Haitian capital in the last few hours.

Gang members have already attacked the port, schools, police stations, prisons, ministries, bank branches, community stores, the National Printing Office, which issued its first publication in 1804, and set fire to a 96,000-square-meter warehouse in the free trade zone.

They also ransacked private cars, a religious seminary, the first Baptist Church in Haiti, founded more than 180 years ago, and over a dozen pharmacies.

In April of this year, to show that they are serious, they burned down the house of the then commander in chief of the Haitian National Police, Frantz Elbé.

Seeking more notoriety they opened fire on an aircraft in the middle of a landing maneuver of the American company Spirit Airlines, which ended up in the Dominican Republic with a wounded flight attendant. Following the attack, the planes that had flown to Port-au-Prince were inspected. It was found out that the bandits had already pierced a Jet Blue plane and another from American Airlines with their bullets.
