The short documentary “A Journey of Self-Love”, by the founders of the Santano Produções production company, competed in two categories of the event, which took place from November 11 to 13 in the United Kingdom, in this case, those corresponding to Short Documentary and Best Cinematography of Female Empowerment.

The work reflects the contribution of the zungueiras or street vendors to the informal economy of Angolan families, an idea that coincided with the central theme of the festival’s edition, dedicated to the deployment and empowerment of women, promoting environmental awareness.

The filmmakers, who had already won the merit award at home at the Viana Cine Fest, expressed to Correio da Kianda their satisfaction for having won the award among several quality films.

The LAHFF is an event that recognizes the transformative power of cinema and bets on its capacity to influence communities, defend human rights, and tell stories of peace, environmental management, and independent movements. Its purpose is to amplify the voices of those who use the seventh art as a means of global expression.
