Lima, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) Two shipments totaling 10 tons and 300 kilos of cocaine were seized in Peru, reported today the head of the Anti-Drug Directorate of the National Police (Dirandro), Colonel Luis Flores.

The drug was seized when it was in the port of Callao, next to this capital, ready to be sent abroad, indicated the officer, who said that with the operation Dirandro seized 133 tons so far this year.

He specified that one shipment was nine thousand kilos and the other 1,300 kilos and in one case the drug was hidden in a shipment of passion fruit pulp.

Flores announced that Dirandro has assigned 20 anti-drug agents to the recently inaugurated mega-port of Chancay, with Chinese and Peruvian capital, to prevent drug shipments from there abroad.

The brand new terminal, considered the most modern in South America, is fully automated, so there is no handling of containers, which, according to the port administration, greatly reduces the risk of drug trafficking.

In addition, it has high-tech scanners to observe the contents of the shipments.
