Bogota, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) Colombian President Gustavo Petro highlighted the economic expansion experienced by the country, driven by the sustained increase in the agricultural sector, according to data released by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE).

Colombia is growing. We’ve grown more than 10% in a year in agriculture. It’s like the Chinese economy! Work and wealth generation is growing in the rural world, precisely where there was more poverty. Colombia is back to being a coffee and not a coal plantation, which is the distance between life and death,” he wrote on Twitter.

He also noted that foreign and domestic tourism are also growing.

According to him, the foreign exchange contributed by the leisure industry exceeds that obtained by coal, with which it can be said that the sectors not linked to oil are increasing.

He said that fossil fuels are declining because of the depression of international prices, but that the nation fills that void with much more agriculture, tourism and industry.

All that remains to be done is to boost the construction and improvement of housing, and for that, the Bank of the Republic must lower the real interest rate. All that remains is to accelerate Ecopetrol (the state oil company) towards the generation of clean energy,” he said.
