Brazilian Police arrest group planned coup, murder of Lula

Brasilia, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) The Brazilian Federal Police (PF) on Tuesday conducted the so-called Counter-Coup Operation to dismantle a criminal organization that was planning a coup in 2022 and the murder of then President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The criminal group also intended to attack the judiciary, in the case of the Supreme Federal Court (STF).

The operation targeted the so-called “Kids Pretos” (Black Kids), who are active and reserve military personnel. A federal police officer was also arrested.

According to the PF, there was an operation plan called “Green and Yellow Dagger” to kill Lula, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, and Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

The police operation, authorized by De Moraes, conducted this Tuesday five preventive arrest warrants, three search warrants, and 15 different precautionary detention measures.

One of the targets was reserve general Mario Fernandes, who was an executive secretary of the General Secretariat of the Presidency in the Jair Bolsonaro government (2019-2022) and is currently an advisor to federal lawmaker Eduardo Pazuello, a former Health Minister of the far-right politician.

The Brazilian Army carries out missions in Rio de Janeiro, Goias, Amazonas, and the Federal District.
