Their debut in the island is part of the “Days of St. Petersburg in Cuba” event, considered “an important milestone in strengthening cultural ties between our countries, one that provides a platform for the exchange of experiences and ideas,” said a statement from Moscow’s diplomatic representation here.
The instrumental ensemble “Quintet del Ensayo” and the State Dance Ensemble “Barynya” will be featured in the show, starting at 8:30 p.m. local time, as well as soloists from the Mariinsky Theater, winners of national and foreign accolades.
The white adagio from ballet “Swan Lake” and the “Dance with Sabers” with music by A. Khachaturian will also be on stage, while also presenting the local audience with popular tunes such as “Valenki,” “Kalinka” and many others.
The program includes round tables addressing cooperation in education, restoration and conservation of cultural heritage, library science, tourism, culture and information technologies.
There will be singing master classes, choreography and chess, adding to film screenings, featuring Soviet and Russian classics of Soviet and Russian cinema.
A number of exhibitions will open in the Cuban capital, allowing locals to get a better understanding of St. Petersburg, a city full of history, architectural masterpieces and culture.
