According to a press release from the Angolan Presidency, among the topics of conversation was the US president’s upcoming visit to Angola in the first week of December.

The Angolan Presidency stated, at the time of the announcement, that Biden’s visit “will celebrate the transformation of the relationship between the United States and Angola, and will acknowledge the African country’s role as a strategic partner and regional leader.”

It noted that greater collaboration on security, healthcare and economic partnerships will be discussed, including the Group of Seven (G7) for global infrastructure and investment support for the Lobito Corridor.

During the G20 Summit, the Angolan president held several bilateral meetings, including one on Monday with the chairman of the EMS Pharmaceutical Industrial Group, Carlos Eduardo Sánchez, on the possibility of extending his business to Angola.

He also met with the president of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina; the general director of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Audrey Azoulay; and the president of the European Council, Charles Michel.
