Havana, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) Renowned American director and choreographer Vincent Paterson is listed today as one of the special guests of Ballet Beyond Borders Havbana 2025, the event organizers confirmed.

In addition, he will be one of the juries for the Dance Challenge contest, one of the main acts of this event, held for the second time in Cuba.

Paterson’s list of winners includes creations for Madonna and Michael Jackson, which have transcended as iconic choreographies.

For the Queen of Pop, he devised “Express yourself” and “Vogue,” including the singer’s legendary performance as Marie Antoinette in a staging for the 1990 MTV Awards.

He also worked on “Blond Ambition World Tour,” Madonna’s tour that marked a before and after in the world of entertainment, as it changed the meaning of live concerts and world tours. For Michael Jackson, Paterson choreographed for more than 15 years, creating the People’s Choice Award-winning “Bad Tour” and “Smooth Criminal,” among other accolades.

He also created “Blood On The Dance Floor” and many other Jackson videos and live performances, from the King of Pop’s appearance at the Grammy Awards to the popular Superbowl Halftime Show.

His work for film, theater – including Broadway -, concert tours, operas, music videos, television and commercials has won awards in several countries.

Among his choreographies for films are the musical sequences for Lars Von Trier’s Dancer in the Dark, as well as The Birdcage and Closer, both for director Mike Nichols.

He also worked for Alan Parker’s Evita and Steven Spielberg’s Hook.

Ballet Beyond Borders Havbana 2025 will be held in the Cuban capital from January 7 -11 next year. A Special Gala is planned for January 13 at the Tomás Terry Theater in Cienfuegos, a city in central Cuba.

Rocky Mountain Ballet Theater, from the United States, and Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba are jointly organizing the second edition of the event, featuring an array of Cuban and foreign personalities.
