On Monday, Somali news portal Hiiraan Online stated that the clashes broke out the day before in the Labi Ano area, between members of two clans, over disputes in the ownership and use of grazing land.

Residents called for the intervention of regional authorities to stop the clashes, and for community leaders to carry out mediation work.

Specialists recall today that, for a long time, due to disputes between different clans, the central region of Somalia has been the scene of clashes which have increased after the expulsion from the area of members of the Islamist group Al Shabab.

On the other hand, political observers recall that the impact of climate change, the long internal armed conflict, and the downward reproduction of the economy, have placed this country in the Horn of Africa in an extreme dependence on international aid.
