The Island Traffic Authority (ITA) stated that with 19 deaths recorded up to November 15, the number of children killed in motor vehicle crashes has been an alarming 46 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
As the report stated, child fatalities are expected to increase by 22 percent compared to last year, while elderly facilities will decrease by 24 percent.
The document, reproduced by the Jamaica Observer digital newspaper, listed 59 pedestrians being killed until November 15. It is expected that road users will register a three-percent increase compared to 2023.
ITA said pedestrian deaths and fatal crashes decreased by 11 percent when compared to a similar period in 2023.
