As reported today by the state news agency KCNA, the meeting took place in Pyongyang last Thursday and Friday with the participation of the country’s top military commanders.

The decision to turn the KPA into an elite force by strengthening the battalions and the authority of its commanders to firmly defend the sovereignty, dignity, and honor of the country and the people in the face of threats and challenges from hostile forces, was described as historic by KCNA.

In that same sense, a message from the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) was delivered under the slogan “Let us secure the cause of building a powerful army with the sure advance in strengthening battalions”.

In the central report, Minister of National Defense No Kwang Chol highlighted the concepts and continued efforts of the WPK General Secretary and Chairman of the State Affairs Committee, Kim Jong Un, to strengthen the country’s defense system with battalions at its core.
