The chargé d’affaires of the Haitian Embassy in Cuba, Vichy de la Fayette Thibeaud, stated that events like this contribute to consolidating the ties of solidarity between both Caribbean nations.
At the Haitian Embassy we feel extremely proud to be able to participate in an event of such significance for us and the children of Haitians born in Cuba who can reconnect with their origins through this type of event, she said.
Yohandra Fernández, an expert in international relations who is responsible for the Caribbean area at the UM, pointed out that the objectives of the meeting are to pay tribute to the Haitian Revolution, to the end of the decade of African descent in Cuba and to the public university of Haiti, an institution that is 80 years old.
The coordinator of the bilateral meeting stated that the program is conceived to demonstrate the link between the origins of the Haitian Revolution and the wealth of the territory of Matanzas from a religious approach that presents great features of African culture.
