Cuba reiterates willingness to strengthen ties with Sultanate of Oman

Havana, Nov 18 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Government ratified its willingness to strengthen ties with the Sultanate of Oman, which is celebrating its National Holiday on Monday.

Cuba sends congratulations to the people and government of the Sultanate of Oman on the occasion of its National Holiday, the Foreign Ministry wrote on its X profile.

“We reiterate the willingness to continue to strengthening the relations of friendship and cooperation between our countries,” the text added.

Oman’s National Day coincides with the birthday of Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, who began building the current modern State after coming to power in 1970.

The day also marks the country’s independence from Portugal in 1650, making Oman the oldest independent country in the Arab world.

Cuba and the Sultanate of Oman have maintained diplomatic relations since May 1994, which are solid and progressing on the basis of mutual respect, according to recent statements by both parties.

Last March, President Miguel Díaz-Canel also expressed Cuba’s willingness to maintain, strengthen and diversify ties with Oman.

Díaz-Canel made the statement in Havana, during a meeting at the Palace of the Revolution with Abdulsalam M. Abdullah Al-Murshidi, president of the Oman Investment Authority.
