Cuba and Laos established diplomatic relations in November 1974, but have maintained ties since long before, due to their confrontations with colonialism and neocolonialism.
on Monday, the Lao National Assembly approved the appointment of Phomvihane as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, who also serves as head of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Central Committee of the Party.
Phomvihane was promoted on a proposal from Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and succeeds Saleumxay Kommasith, who was reassigned to the Office of the Prime Minister.
