Ecuador opens final day of the XXIX Ibero-American Summit (+Photo)

Cuenca, Ecuador, Nov 15 (Prensa Latina) The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, opened today the debates of the final day of the 29th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, when they seek to reach a joint declaration.

“We are living through difficult times for Ibero-America, and we have the responsibility, as heads of State, to move the region forward,” said the Ecuadorian president at the beginning of the plenary session this Friday at the Pumapungo Museum, in the city of Cuenca.

Noboa said that Ecuador worked in a coordinated manner in the organization of ministerial conferences, forums and high-level events in which the main challenges of the community were addressed.

In this regard, he mentioned transnational organized crime, climate change, labor inclusion of young people, environmental protection, access to education and connectivity.

Noboa also highlighted that the XV Business Summit, held on November 13 and 14 also in Cuenca, was attended by more than a thousand participants.

The current edition of the Summit is the one with the lowest attendance of leaders in the history of these forums.

The meeting is attended by the King of Spain, Felipe VI; the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa; the President of the Government of Andorra, Xavier Espot, the Ecuadorian ruler; as well as foreign ministers and lower-ranking representatives.

It is expected that this Friday they will adopt the so-called Cuenca Declaration, although there are divergent criteria and a lack of consensus for the signing of the document, according to Prensa Latina.
