The National Hurricane Center (CNH) in its bulletin warns that this depression will have hurricane forces when it approaches the east coast of Honduras, between Friday and Saturday.
It said it was too early to determine the potential impact it could have on the eastern Gulf of Mexico, including Florida, the Keys and Cuba by the middle of next week.
In Honduras, Belize, El Salvador, eastern Guatemala and western Nicaragua could cause flash floods and landslides, the CNH warns.
Located 150 kilometers northeast of Cape Gracias a Dios on the Nicaragua-Honduras border, the depression has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and is moving at 24 kilometers per hour.
According to forecasters, it is expected to stall and then wind near the northern coast of Honduras on Friday night. It may become a storm later in the day, the NHC said.
