In his speech at the meeting “Generational Change, 60 Years Together,” González, who is also the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), referred to the need to work in order to incorporate more young people into the cause of solidarity.

Only in this way will the solidarity work done to this day continue, said González, who pointed out that from the RCFS, it is possible to achieve that more Russians visit Cuba through the ICAP, as part of the projects and brigades that the institution organizes.

The conference opened with a video message from the president of the Cuba-Russia Friendship Association, Arnaldo Tamayo, and the words of his Russian counterpart, Alexei Lavrov.

During the meeting, which took place at the House of Scientists in Moscow, several representatives of the different societies of solidarity with Cuba in Russia took the floor, as well as Cuban Ambassador in Moscow Julio Garmendía.

At the end of the conference, the RSFC granted the 60-year medal to González, the Cuban ambassador; the director for Europe at ICAP, Rigoberto Zarza; and the coordinator of the committee to Fight against the blockade against Cuba in Russia, Elena Lozhkina, among other solidarity figures.

Earlier in the day, the visiting delegation paid tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, by placing a wreath at the monument erected in his memory two years ago in the Moscow district of Sokol.

Later, the ICAP president and his delegation visited the headquarters of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, where a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions was signed.
