Addressing the high-level segment of the 19th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, COP29, in Baku, Azerbaijan, the head of government blamed Rwanda for the conflict and also for the destruction of ecosystems in the area.
“My country is registering significant losses in terms of biodiversity in the eastern region and is forced to allocate part of its budget to the war that Rwanda unfairly imposes on it, instead of investing them in climate resilience,” said Tuluka, quoted by the Congolese Press Agency.
The Prime Minister stressed that this situation should be of major concern to the international community, given the importance of the DRC as part of one of the most important basins for global climate regulation.
She said that, despite this situation, the country is willing to establish strategic partnerships in which everyone wins and is beneficial, both for the Congolese communities and for the rest of the planet.
