This is an initiative by the Social Policy Cabinet, with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank.
The center aims at articulating and coordinating specific services from different institutions, inserted in a comprehensive care plan for women, based on their needs and having their empowerment as its goal.
At the opening event, the coordinator of the Social Policy Cabinet, Tony Peña, reported that the facility has the capacity to serve up to 800 women a day.
The directors of CEDI-MUJER, Ana Lendor, and Against Gender Violence, Ana Andrea Villa, highlighted that the first gender prosecutor’s office in Santo Domingo Norte will operate in this premise and pointed out that women in the area will have quick access to justice through the Comprehensive Care Unit for Gender Violence.
This is the second center that President Abinader inaugurates, the first was in Santiago de los Caballeros (north).
These actions seek to reduce violence against women in all its forms, promote their autonomy, improve their sexual and reproductive health, as well as prevent teen pregnancy.
