World Peace Council condemns US aggression against Cuba

Kathmandu, Nov 12 (Prensa Latina) The Executive Committee of the World Peace Council (WPC) strongly condemned the US blockade on Cuba and its categorization as an alleged state sponsor of terrorism.

Fernando González, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) told Prensa Latina that as a result of a meeting in Kathmandu, the participants expressed solidarity with Cuba in the face of the effects of the natural phenomena that impacted the island. “The interventions and speeches of the president, general secretary, and executive secretary of the WPC, in addition to those of the majority of the delegates, included expressions of recognition to the island and support for our people,” stressed González, who represented ICAP at the gathering.

The signatories also spoke out strongly against Israel’s genocide in the Palestinian territories, mainly in Gaza, as well as the aggressions of the Zionist army of Tel Aviv in southern Lebanon, in Syria, and its attacks on Iran.

The president of ICAP added that the final text includes the most pressing issues of the current world and its rejection of the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for the continuation of the war in Europe and its interest in prolonging that conflict.

At the meeting, González presented a report on the activities carried out by ICAP during the last period and the main actions carried out regionally.

There were also debates on the reports of each region and other internal issues of the functioning of the World Peace Council were reviewed.

At side meetings of the Executive Committee of the WPC, the Cuban hero spoke with leaders of political, youth, and student organizations, as well as solidarity groups with Cuba from Nepal.

ICAP’s president said that in the meetings, the situation in Cuba was updated and the island received support and expressions of admiration from the participants. Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, was proposed as the venue for the 11th Asia Pacific Regional Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba to be held in 2026, he emphasized.
